Getting Involved In Your Communities
Advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, are able to: Have their voice heard on issues that are important to them. Defend and safeguard their rights. Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives. The purpose of our advocacy is to promote or reinforce a change in policies, programs, and/or legislation.
Attorneys Adam M. Swartz and Jenafer F. Davidson have actively advocated and lobbied the Texas Legislature regarding changes in bail reform, Texas’ cannabis policies, including expanding the Compassionate Use Program (TCUP), revising/honing/tailoring the Texas Citizen’s Participation Act (TCPA; Anti-SLAPP statute), and auto-fraud/Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA) related consumer protection;
The attorneys have served as Election Protection in the Texas Civil Rights Project Call Center HQ at the Belo Mansion during the 2018 general election, have served as precinct chair, as an elected representative of Texas Senatorial District 16 to the State Convention, served on the reforming Platform Committee, and helped build several organizations from scratch, including the influential Frisco Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee and, early on before law school, Upstart Productions, an award-winning local theater that focused on affordable ticket prices for the public and paved the way for new Dallas talent to level up and star on stage.
They attorneys currently serve on several Dallas Bar Association and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers committees, with Atty. Swartz co-Vice Chairing the DBA Community Involvement Committee (CIC) and the DAYL Bolton Ball fundraiser. In 2019, CIC created the Al Ellis Award for Community Involvement, celebrated the non-legal work contributions of members of the legal community to local organizations in the DFW metroplex.
In addition, Atty. Swartz serves as a Board Officer for two 501(c)3 non-profits: Awwdoptable, Inc. (animal rescue & rehoming) and IMPRINT TheatreWorks (“DFW’s Hottest New Theater Company” – Broadway World, 2019.
